Adult Literacy and ESL Program

English as a Second Language

  • Basic Literacy, beginning and intermediate level classes offered in convenient locations throughout Loudoun County. Call for registration dates.
  • Individualized tutoring available for ELL students who qualify, Adult Basic Literacy Students (native speakers), and adults who would like to concentrate on portions of the GED.

Family Literacy Programs

Head Start Partnership

Reaches at-risk preschool children and their families to help adults be effective parents and help children develop the necessary skills to be successful learners through:

  • Pre-literacy and early literacy fundamentals
  • Reading readiness instruction
  • Intergenerational activities
  • Parenting skills
  • Adult literacy and English as a Second Language instruction

Sweet Dreams Program

Volunteers read to children residing in local homeless shelters one evening a week at bedtime. New or gently used books are provided to the children and their parents for their own personal libraries.

Baby Book Bundles Program

Special baby literacy packs including new board books, early literacy information and a baby item (bib, socks, etc.) are distributed to at-risk new moms in the Loudoun County Head Start Program and the INMED-MotherNet/Healthy Families Loudoun nonprofit organization.
