Adult Literacy and ESL Program

English as a Second Language

  • Basic Literacy, beginning and intermediate level classes offered in convenient locations throughout Loudoun County. Please go to our Classes and Events page for the next registration dates. Classes are $50 for a 14-week semester and meet once a week for two hours. Scholarships are available.
  • Individualized tutoring available for ESL students who qualify, Adult Basic Literacy Students (native speakers), and adults who would like to concentrate on portions of the GED.

Workplace Literacy Program

Programming tailored to your business and employee needs focused on:

Family Literacy Program

Reaches at-risk preschool children and their families to help adults be effective parents and help children develop the necessary skills to be successful learners through:

  • Pre-literacy and early literacy fundamentals
  • Reading readiness instruction
  • Intergenerational activities
  • Parenting skills
  • Adult literacy and English as a Second Language instruction

Sweet Dreams Program

Volunteers read to children residing in local homeless shelters one evening a week at bedtime. New or gently used books are provided to the children and their parents for their own personal libraries.

AART (All Ages Read Together)

A pilot program currently running at Sunrise Assisted Living in Leesburg, Virginia, where active residents of Sunrise Assisted Living read to low to middle income preschoolers twice a week. Literacy building activities are also led by the seniors and each child is given the book that is read to add to their personal libraries.
